Winter 2015 English Classes!

A reminder for students, January 5th, 2015 is the beginning of the Winter 2015 term at Umpqua Community College. ESL classes will be held both in the mornings and the evenings.  Below is the schedule, hope to see you on Monday!

(Intermediate to Advanced Levels)

This quarter, we will be learning computer skills on Thursday nights!  This is an excellent opportunity to learn how to type and use resources like email and Microsoft Office.

Having Confidence When Speaking English

The video below gives tips on how to have more confidence when speaking English.  Remember to describe your English fluency as "in progress" and "learning".  Don't say negative things about the way you speak because this brings down your self-esteem.  You can achieve your goal of speaking better with practice and patience.

This week we finished the quarter and did our final presentations.  I would like to congratulate all of my students on their success and hard work!  

In class, we practiced daily tongue twisters to help with speaking skills.  Sometimes we talked about how words are spoken differently by some English speakers.  Here are some interesting videos about the different dialects spoken in America.  Do you speak American?
